Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Mandrill is a Markdown reader and editor available on macOS, iOS, and iPadOS. It renders .md files locally on your device and requires no account to use. An optional GitHub integration allows you to open repositories and push changes directly from the app — this feature is entirely opt-in and requires you to sign in with GitHub.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect any information. Specifically, Mandrill does not collect:

• Personal identifiers (name, email, IP address, device ID)
• Usage data or analytics
• Crash reports or diagnostics
• The content of any files you open
• Location data
• Any other data of any kind

3. File access

Mandrill reads Markdown files only when you explicitly open them using the file picker, folder browser, or drag and drop. The app does not scan, index, or retain access to your files beyond the current session. No file content is ever transmitted to us or any third party.

4. Network access

Mandrill operates offline by default and makes no network requests during normal use. The one exception is the optional GitHub integration: if you choose to sign in with GitHub, the app communicates directly with GitHub's servers (via OAuth and the GitHub API) to authenticate your account, list your repositories, and push commits. These requests go directly to GitHub — Mandrill does not route them through any intermediate server we operate. If you do not use the GitHub integration, the app makes no network requests whatsoever.

5. Third-party services

Mandrill integrates with one optional third-party service: GitHub (github.com), used solely to enable the GitHub repository feature. When you sign in with GitHub, you are subject to GitHub's Privacy Policy. Mandrill does not integrate with any analytics platforms, advertising networks, or cloud storage providers. We store only the GitHub OAuth token needed to maintain your session, and it is kept locally on your device.

6. Data storage

Mandrill does not store user data on any server. Preferences, settings, and — if you use GitHub integration — your OAuth token are stored locally on your device using the standard system keychain and user defaults. None of this data is transmitted to us.

7. Children's privacy

Mandrill does not collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is rated 4+ on the App Store.

8. Changes to this policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Because we collect no data, any changes are likely to be minor clarifications rather than material changes to data practices.
